Southern University set to host community health event on July 17
Continuing community partnerships and involvement, Southern University will host a #WellnessWednesday community health event in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and the All of Us Research Program on Wednesday, July 17. Activities are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom in the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union.
Participating partners and activities include Walgreens with free blood pressure screenings; JiggAerobics with a dance-style workout class; and Yoga Noir with a yoga session. Food trucks and vendors will also be on site with healthy food offerings.
The fair will bring awareness to the All of Us program’s goal of speeding up health research and medical breakthroughs that can help create individualized prevention, treatment and care for everyone, but especially for minority communities. The Southern University School of Nursing earlier this year held a similar fair with a grant awarded by the research program.
This event is free and open to the public. More information and updates can be found on the Facebook event page: https://bit.ly/2IVmqiu.
