Southern University to host 'Boots on the Bluff' campus-wide cleanup day

Southern University and A&M College will host “Boots on the Bluff: Campus-Wide Clean Up Day” on Friday, Aug. 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., as part of an ongoing commitment to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming campus environment that reflects institutional excellence and Jaguar pride.

The initiative aims to enhance the Southern University experience for all who visit, study, and work on campus while reinforcing the university’s spirit of service and unity.

The event is open to faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members interested in supporting campus beautification efforts ahead of the upcoming academic year. Participants, who will start at the John B. Cade Library, will assist with cleaning and revitalizing campus grounds and buildings.

Immediately following the cleanup, a participant celebration will be held at the library. The celebration will feature music, food trucks and local vendors in recognition of the community’s collective effort.

Volunteers should come prepared to work both indoors and outdoors. Gloves, trash bags and water will be provided.

For volunteer or general information, contact Jimmie Wade, interim director of facility services, at jimmie_wade@subr.edu, or Jean'quel White, campus pride coordinator, at jeanquel.white@sus.edu.

Vendors interested in participating in the celebration can sign up here, or contact Dr. Pashion Norman at pashion.norman@sus.edu.

This event is coordinated by Facility Services, Student Engagement and Leadership, the Career Services Center, and the Business and Industry Cluster.
