The baccalaureate program in the School of Nursing graduated its first class of 14 students in 1988 and to date has produced over 2,000 BSN graduates. The undergraduate program is nationally recognized for its success with students from disadvantaged backgrounds. SUBR produces on average one third of all African American BSN RNs in the state and is one of the largest producers of African American baccalaureate prepared nurses in the United States, according to Diverse Issues in Higher Education. National licensure exam pass rates for SUSON graduates are above the national average.
