The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) announced November 27, that Southern University and A&M College is one of 43 providers from 22 states and the District of Columbia to receive accreditation for their educator preparation programs.

The event is described as a power-packed four-day conference that prepares carefully selected students from the 47 publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to compete in today’s very competitive global workforce.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2017 to Rainer Weiss (LIGO/Virgo Collaboration), Barry C. Barish (LIGO/Virgo Collaboration), and Kip S. Thorne (LIGO/Virgo Collaboration), "for decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves."
