Parent University
Parent University serves as an essential bridge between the university and families, ensuring parents and guardians are informed, engaged, and empowered to support their student’s success. Its purpose is to help families understand the academic expectations, support systems, and campus resources available to their students as they transition into college life. Parent University also provide guidance and support to parents as they assist their students in navigating the transition to higher education. By participating in Parent University, families gain valuable insights into university operations, financial aid, student safety, academic advising, housing, wellness, and engagement opportunities.
Parent University also fosters a strong partnership between the university and parents—aligning everyone around the shared goal of student retention, progression, and completion. When parents are informed and confident about how to guide and encourage their students, those students are more likely to stay motivated, seek help when needed, and persist toward graduation. Ultimately, Parent University reinforces Southern University’s commitment to building a supportive community that nurtures both students and their families as vital partners in the journey toward academic and personal success.
