Southern University alum selected as a quarterfinalist for Grammy Music Educator award

Southern University alum and Cedar Hill, TX High School band director Derrick Walker has been selected as a quarterfinalist for the Grammy Music Educator award. It is his second time nominated for the award.

Mr. Walker is the second Southern alumnus to be nominated in as many years. Semifinalists will be announced in September of 2021. The winner will receive the award at the Grammy Awards ceremony on January 31, 2022.
